Wy think that Commedia dell’Arte is an archaic stage training for the actor of today. Commedia dell’Arte is the basis for the modern Comedy, Improvisation, Slapstick, Clown, Story telling and any form of fun and grotesques Theaters.
The Commedia dell’Arte is the key to master the craft of Shakespeare, Molière, Goldoni, Goethe, Schiller, Mozart, Rossini, Pirandello, Brecht, Dario Fo.
The Commedia opens our stage sensitivity, developed our acting craft and talent…
For actors, singers, directors, theater studies, theater lovers …
Why we usually offer only weekend workshops or block-seminars? A Commedia dell’Arte weekend workshop is a short “full immersion”, where the interested parties – whether professional or amateur – experienced the theater by the Commedia dell’Arte in a novel for him way.
In the Commedia dell’Arte are the figures, masks, archetypes, universal archetypes of humanity, which are evident everywhere beyond language; the actors juggle with their body language as well as with their words and are authors of their own texts; the stories that impromptu comedies that have come down to us historically – the famous Canovacci – are perfect and exciting action sequences, but no one knows who wrote it … One discovers a world of theater with “other” rules, where actresses of today their knowledge in question provide in order to then develop completely new intuitions and their talents.
The goal of the first workshop is at the participants curiosity – even better, greed – to awaken to the Commedia dell’Arte. This is followed by an endless consolidation may follow: Several 3 – Day workshops or 2 – weeks workshop, but it is just through these successive “full immersion” possible that we will offer the participants the means, this complex form of theater really get to know and to penetrate. In other words, after the first workshop, a tutorial is tailored to each participant.
These are also the reasons why we try to keep the fees low for each workshop: Prices should not prevent interested parties and lovers, the Commedia dell’Arte deepen, but the goal is to control it like a champion!
The origins of this desire have emerged from fascination, explorations and discoveries that we have gained through our contact with this action-packed / exhilarating form of theatre. We applaud the enourmous role the Commedia dell´Arte has played in the historical development of theatre and the art of comedy, Through our activities we seek to research and rediscover it´s various acting and staging techniques with the aim of stimulating further impulses for a theatre of today, to gain a perspective of how the Commedia dell´Arte may be re-invented and develop a vision for the future. Rejecting all mystifation and sticky sentimentality surrounding the Commedia dell´Arte, our pursuit is to explore it´s fundanmental needs and qualities. Vitality, struggle, excitement, and the demands of virtuosity it makes upon the actor, to mention just a few. Our desire is to establish a school and creative work centre with experienced teachers who may offer an extensive and methodical pedagogy, to all theatre performers, (including singers, writers and visual artists). To launch the school, we propose a series of seminars based on the theme of the Commedia dell´Arte. For three two week perioids during the months of Okt.,Nov, Jan 2012 , our first seminares will be offer a training that will introduce participants to the many different elements contained within the Commedia dell´Arte. (The human comedy, J. Lecoq)
Our course includes, physical training, slap stick, improvisation techniques, the half mask of the Commedia dell’Arte, background of the Commedia (relevant documentation including film material), exploring the Commedia dell’Arte in relationship to Goldoni, Ruzzante, Moliere and Shakepeare (advanced), and posing the question how may the Commedia be peformed today (professional level). Our objectives are that the experiences made and the techniques learnt will serve to encourage the immagination and provide further rich resources for the actor. The seminars are offered to those who share a passion for the theatre, who wish to strenghten their improvisation and vocal skills and who have a desire to develop their comic possibilities as performers, (stand-up comedy, cabaret, story telling, burlesque, circus and variéte) Our teaching methods have been developed through gained knowledges from teachers (Ecole Jacques Lecoq , Paris, Carlo Boso and Dario Fo, Italy), from realization of performances and teaching practice throughout Europe over a number of years.
The school’s official languages are English, Italian, German and French.
